Arrived today for the 5pm opening. The sun was amazing and lit the stunning Monasterio buildings beautifully. The layout of the different parts of the historic site was really good and provided great views across all aspects. Well preserved and presented and definitely worth a visit.
This old walls still keep the flavor and atmosphere of the Valldigna monastery, in the town of Simat. It was affected by the Mendizábal law in the 19 th century and later bought by the Valencia Gov. We first viewed the monastery and adjoining ruins from the property we were staying at on the opposite side of the "dignified valley" and we're delighted when our friends took us to visit the place the following day. Having first visited this wonderful monestary in 1991 with our then mayor Carlos to see what two workers from our village Barx were discovering with some exploratory diggings in the cloister area I have folowed the diggings, preservations and rebuildings with interest. What all visitors can now see is amazing. It is well worth a two hour visit.
