Located in the historic centre of Burgos, the Castillo and Cathedral form the major historic sites of this city. They are both well preserved and it is possible to walk around to view the various historic items. Many of the information signs are in English as well as Spanish.
First, please note that "Castillo" here means fort, rather than "castle". Visiting the Castillo is the best way to learn about the fascinating history of this important city. It is certainly not worth visting Burgos for the castle or the view, but if you want to walk off a long slow walk round the cathedral with the audio tour, then do walk up to the Mirador. Although only ruins remain what is there gives a could impression of what the original structure must been like, assisted by some clever computer drawings to complete the picture. The climb to the castle takes you away from the centre of Burgos and into a green space with spectacular views of the city and surrounding countryside.
