After quite a few years rebuilding the ceiling which is beautiful from outside view, I have to say that this cathedral never was my cup of tea. Too big and few stunning figures inside that really make me say OMG. If you have the chance, go inside and have a look, why not.
This was actually not one of the places covered during the guided tour of the historic area - one hour was not enough to see everything. However it was an additional place to see recommended by our guide, and luckily we had already found it!

Recently restored, it now features more natural lighting inside and thus its interior can be fully appreciated. Its facade is of a restrained architecture, a typical feature of the colonial style. It belongs to the Nivaria Diocese, (Nivaria being how Romans referred to Tenerife), the highest ecclesiastical authority on the island.
