This church, where Luther preached often, stand in the center of Wittenberg. It is beautiful and known for the Cranach altarpiece. There is also additional artwork behind the altar. It is a wonderful place to sit quietly and contemplate Luther's influence on Christianity while looking at the altarpiece which includes images of Luther and the pulpit from which Luther preached.
This is well worth the visit as part of a visit to Wittenberg. It takes a few minutes to walk to from the main street or market place. This is where Luther preached and married. There is no cost. It gives one an insight into Germany from the medieval to the modern era. The interior is simpler then the Castle... 更多
This is truly the "Mother Church of The a Reformation". It's where Luther preached and where Bugenhagen and Melanchthon worked with him to set the course for the Church after the split with Rome. The interior is classic, a must see for anyone interested in history.

It's light blue pews and minimalistic architecture gives you a feeling of calm, serenity and a kind of mystical feeling. The baptismal, however, is elaborately decorated. This church is a World Heritage Site - and quite rightly so! Walk around it and go inside. Take you time and make sure you see every corner of this impressive building. And watch all the paintings by L. Cranach - looking out for details. There is a small printed guide worth taking. This church is a true gem! (There... 更多
While it does seem very odd having a store inside of the church building proper - and despite the fact you have to pay to get in if you are a part of a tour (individuals are at no cost) this was a great visit. The paintings were simply spectacular and to think that this is the place where Luther... 更多
The Cranach works are amazing. This was Luther's Church - thousands of sermons delivered. This is the place for all pilgrims to see. Plan to spend some time here - tours typically are in and out. It really helps to get some explanation of the paintings. This along with Lutherhaus museum are the highlights of Wittenberg!

It was under construction for the 2017 festivities, celebrating the 500 years of reformation; still we were allowed to... 更多
