This was a fun restaurant to enjoy in the evening. A little bit pricey with no chance to use a credit card. I ordered the Beef-Romulade and it exceeded my expectations. I would read about the passage way and restaurant before entering to you have some background knowledge of what history is around you.
This is a tourist venue, but locals also eat there because the food is good and not that expensive. We had the wild boar steak with red cabbage and potato dumplings, fabulous. I am a German teacher and know Goethe's 'Urfaust' ('Faust Part 1), which would add a certain thrill to eating here, for this is where Mephistopheles brought Faust... 更多
I was rather sceptical about eating here; but it was a very nice experience indeed. Though it was during the Bachfest there were plenty of tables available (ask for a table for two 'am Rand' so you have a more quiet experience if you want to talk). They have a daily menu (min for 2) which is always meat. We... 更多
Auerbach's Keller is a very old "pub" and has a long history - it is starred in Goethe's Faust when the Devil tempts Dr Faustus. This makes it a "must see" for tourists and this is why it's more a tourist trap than foodie-heaven. Located centrally in Leipzig in a cellar it looks/is a traditional German style restaurant. Lot's of... 更多
The history in this place pours from the walls, dating back to the 15th century it's one of the oldest wine cellars in Leipzig. A very traditional place serving traditional German food. it's said that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited often whilst studying at university in 1765, calling it his favourite wine bar. It feels like nit much has changed... 更多
I've only been here once, but would go again if I had the time when in Leipzig. I though the food was pretty good (but then I like German food), and the prices not unreasonable. Menu seems to have been translated using Google Translate, but I could manage, sort of, with my minimal German.
Cavernous restaurant you can visit without a reservation. Decent food, at a variety of prices; we took the daily special which was good and a bargain at 12 Euros. Reception can be a little brusque, as they move a lot of people thru the place. No credit cards are accepted.
