The mosaic, dating back to around 200 AD, is absolutely fantastic. The whole museum was built around the mosaic in an originally Roman villa. You could visit this museum just for this one artifact if you are a history lover. I also found the portrait heads on the top floor very interesting. Otherwise, nothing particularly unique that you haven't seen... 更多
This museum was built, when Roman artifacts were discovered right under the cathedral. Here you can get a glimpse of this impressive city and how it all began more than 2000 years ago. Walk through Cologne and see the modern side of it...step into the museum and be amazed at the sophistication of this city under Roman command so long... 更多
Beautiful artifacts found through the area showing the history of Germany and the Roman influence. There is a tile floor that was found in the excavation of the site that the museum sits on that was saved, it is amazing how it was saved hundreds of years later.
An amazing display of Roman art e.g. glassware and mosaics, better than anything I have ever seen alsewhere. Also moving exhibitions of more tragic recent times. Not o be misseN

It has photos and objects... 更多

There is also an amazing collection of oil lamps, of... 更多
... needed some more descriptions in English. As a bit of a Roman history lover, that is the only fault I had with the entire museum. There are some amazingly preserved pieces of history here. I had no idea that the city of Cologne had so much Roman history. Highly recommended if you love your history.
An excellent museum, immediately adjacent to the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), sharing the same square (Domplatte) with that landmark. The museum has an excellent collection of Roman artifacts, including sculpture, jewelry, portraits, pottery, glasswork, etc., all beautifully displayed. However, one of the most compelling aspects of the museum is that it sits on the ruins of a Roman third century... 更多
