Standing on top or nearly top of a hiss this lovely convent commands fantastic views over the village and the river. The sisters make and sell wine and there is also the obligatory gift shop.
The convent itself is a wonderful building,home to some very enterprising sisters. Beautiful way up to get to the monastery, about 45 min walk thru vineyards, but it is worthy, amazing view, lovely church and great monk's wine which you can purchase there. This abbey is huge all yellow and cream in tone. It has amazing towers, with beautiful stairways and arched doorways. The rooms are cavernous, the library made me want to move in. This was lovely but again, whilst it is difficult for the mobility challenged, there is a long ramp and you would need to be dropped off at the bottom and then your driver to push you up the long incline if he/she can.
