After a 2 hour visit to the Documentation Centre, we then followed the path by the lake to the Nazi Party Rally Grounds and Zeppelin Fields. Why is it places with such haunting histories seems to be in such peaceful, serene settings? We came across the Rally Road first, which I'm pleased to read is used for festivals and celebrations... 更多
Impressive buildings and grounds as laid out by Albert Speer. Exhibit after exhibit of the built up,of the Nazi Party and a short finish of the war and the fall. This was to be the spiritual center of the Nazi world. Be sure to stop by the nearby Burger King- outlines of the Nazi symbol can still be seen. Appropriate... 更多
This museum is done really well with an audio guided system that pulls everyone through the whole museum in a well done order. The exterior portion is totally different, it is run down and honestly, nothing worth seeing. It has not been maintained whatsoever and looks very industrial and brick laden, but nothing more. Spend you time on the interior... 更多
Not sure what experience I expected prior to the visit. Afterwards - frustration, disappointment, let down, sadness but also a profound experience. Shame that it is not being retained and preserved for its historical significance, no matter how evil. Our guide was quite candid in informing the group that the Germans are unsure what should be done with the rally... 更多
If you are going to this as part of the documentation center, you might be tempted to take a look. The walk around the park and lake is pretty. The rally grounds themselves might have been eerie, except right in the middle are fleets of lorries and port-a-potties, awaiting the next big event. Apparently a part of the grounds is... 更多
It is interesting to look at the buildings that were never quite completed and to walk and stand in the places where history was made. If you do the documents museum first you'll have a better idea of what happened when and where. Just take the time to walk and reflect and be thankful that the regime lasted only 20... 更多
Take the S Bahn number 9 (Strassenbahn = tram) from the Hauptbahnhof (railway station) and get out at the last stop, Dokuzentrum (Documentation Centre). The Dokuzentrum documents the Nazi era. At €5 per person, it is good value. The museum is located in the north wing of the Congress Hall, designed by the National Socialists to house 50,000 spectators, remained... 更多
A great history lesson told in a logical sequence with good quality audio descriptions and strong video and photographic footage. Explains Hitlers rise to power, how the power of the Nazis was established and maintained through to the end of the war. The tone the museum takes is exactly right. Very glad to see that young Germans (and everyone to... 更多
If you enjoy history and especially World War II history this is an excellent stop. It doesn't cost much and they will give you a ear phone to help in English. Worth the stop if you are in town.
What a size of the place... The museum building is what remains of the old Nazi Congress Hall (remained incomplete) - you need an audio guide to understand the exhibits. Worth the visit - and don't forget to walk to the other side of a large lake to find the place where Hitler stood to inspect the rally (the very... 更多
