We'd been there in mid November and had the opportunity to take the "bahn" (cable car) up to the top of the hill. It was deep, fresh snow there and gorgeous view around. We could see the silhouettes of the tallest building of Muchen.
A pleasant and easy uphill walk out of Oberammergau's centre, beside a trickling mountain stream and open paddocks, brings you to the all-year Wellbad swimming pool centre, and, beside that the base-station for the cable car that can take you to the top of the Laber. Started the walk at the ski lift. Two trails to choose from (the flatter and unadventurous route that is for the family stroll, OR the goat trail method that has you really paying attention near/at the top). Did the goat trail....sooooo worth it! Beer and food at the top, and rode cable car down. Great day at the office!
The laber is within walking distance and well worth the effort. This is a ski lift in the winter, we were there in the spring and went up for a beautiful view. They have a restaurant also, we did not eat there, but it smelled delicious!

We have ridden most of the cable cars including the Zugspitze and wondered if this one could compete. It can. The views from the top include all the way from Munich to the Zugspitze itself. A wonderful ride and many hiking opportunities at the top. Not too costly and the parking is free.
I took the mountain passage to the top of Laber it's a short cut but it has very steep points so make sure you wear decent hiking boots. There's also another trail which is smoother to hike but it takes a longer time to get to top. I would recommend this one if you you're not a frequent hiker. I... 更多
