We really enjoyed walking around this little village of bories (stone huts). It was fascinating to see how people lived in the local area in times gone by. We drove from Gordes which itself is the most stunning town to see, perched on the edge of a cliff.
It truly is a town of stone. Dates bk to the 17th century. The stones taken from the fields were used as building materials. These huts served as shelter for shepherds, crops, and homes for farmers working on the land. These were all built without mortar or binder of any kind, just the unique stacking of the stone. Just 1.5kms walk from the main road or free parking at the site. No Motorhomes it's too narrow. You see much more on foot. Tastefully restored village with intro video with English subtitles. Quite a unique site, well worth a visit.
Good site with some excellent examples of these Provençal buildings, and pleasant enough to walk around for half and hour or so. There is an 'interpretation' room, full of interesting information about the background to the way of life of this rural area
Though a bit expensive, it is an interesting place to visit with children. Architectural and photogenic place. Beware of an almost 3-4 km drive inside the hills on a narrow road.
A great way to spend an hour or so leaning about the history of these amazing buildings and the ancient way of life in Provence. Kids find it facinating too as they are the perfect height for the doorways into Borries and love exploring this little village.

A twisting, narrow, mile-long, stone-bordered road sets the mood for this mildly entertaining open-air museum of stone huts (bories). But is you will make it, you will be rewarded with... 更多
Yes, bories may be of interest to some people. Peasants building habitats out of dry stone to house livestock or shelter in may be fascinating for some. It did take some skill to construct, I'll admit, but I found it all a bit dull to be honest and not a lot to see. No sense of who these people were... 更多
