The Chapel cannot be missed while strolling along the plaza. It serves as a beautiful backdrop to the emerald blue sea. Though I did not get a chance to go inside as it was closed when we crossed it, it's architecture still caught our attention nevertheless. There aren't many old monuments in Ville Franche.
This beautiful little church is located close to all the Villefranche action. It is so quaint and inside the walls are decorated with paintings by Jean Cocteau. Definitely worth seeing as they are not in the usual 'church' style, very different yet still tranquil and calming.
Entrance is 3€ , there is a very knowledgeable lady to regail you with the history which is extremely interesting. The frescoes are well worth seeing.
I have known about this Chapelle dedicated to fisher men that Jean Cocteau created during one year in the late fifties, but for some reason, I never ventured inside. I had just visited the museums dedicated to his work in Menton and it just got my curiosity that with the beautiful painted details outside what could be inside? Truly something... 更多
Jacque Coustea decorated this chapel. It,s a nice respite from the bustle of the town. Beautiful drawings. 3 euro charge, no photos, but there are plenty of postcards to purchase of every wall.
A gorgeous Romanesque 14th century chapel that has an interesting history. Dedicated to St. Peter, patron of the fishermen. I can't really add to what has been said. But all the photos sow pretty much the same view from the front, so I thought you should make sure when you are there that you view the chapelle from the bottom of the steps behind it as you emerge from the medieval tunnels.
Decorated by Jean Cocteau in his line type drawings. Depictions of biblical scenes in a contemporary sort of approach rather than traditional. So appealing and refreshing.
