Place du Forum is in the heart of Arles. Original columns from ancient Rome. Hint: skip the tourist-packed restaurants at night and find one of the many nice places on one of the side streets.
It's the scene of Vincent van Gogh's famous bar painting, so you have to go and have a look. It's obviously rather touristy, but hey! I was there as a tourist! In the evening it's a great place to sip at a Marc de Chateauneuf du Pape and watch the world go by.
Just stopped by while wandering Arles, and this was a good place to people-watch and soak up some of flavor of the city. Central location, easy to walk to/from other sights. Wish we could have stayed for the evening, but liked the rest we did have.

The Place du Forum is flanked on all sides by hotels and cafes. In the summer they spill out to take over the wolf of the central area of the place. Decent range of food and drink options, but check first, some are decidedly expensive.
This is a nice area indeed, surrounded by a number of cafes, restaurants and other shops. It is nice to have a look or just sit down and enjoy. The Forum is a typical Roman construction. Every Roman city had one. It corresponds, roughly to today's local Town Hall and Shopping Area. Every suburb and city has its main shopping... 更多
