The main building of the museum hosts magnificent mosaics and stunning collection of paintings on top floor (must see!!). However, don't ignore the extra ticket the chapel, which you get together with the ticket to Musee Granet. My 16 year old daughter and I spent a rainy morning here in March. There was a fantastic temporary exhibition of Roman mosaics and artefacts which really added interest to the permanent collection. It would have been nice to see a few more works by Cezanne. It's a really lovely, modern well- lit space and well worth a visit.
Don't go here to see the Cezannes as there are only a handful on display. On the other hand this museum harps back to the Roman era and has some amazing high quality mosaics. It is also in a really nice building.
I started by visiting the museum in the chapel. This was great because not only was the artwork interesting and modern, the chapel itself is a work of art. The main Granet museum was a total surprise! It's huge! Small and intimate, yet with a large collection of paintings and sculptures, this place is a real treat. With a number of well known painters works - think of Rubens and Rembrandt - hanging in the main museum, and paintings by Picasso, Monet and others in the nearby chapel building, and you have a lovely collection of art to mull... 更多
