This place is just a 5 minute drive above Chateau-Thierry, and 100% value gto drive up. Independnet on the weather and your group there is something nice. We had madium weather, but the view was still impressive, and seeing the monument from close is definitely worth it. If weather permits there are walkways, you can really enjoy just a short... 更多
My rating is based on the fact that my grandpa, whom I never knew fought in WWI and Chateau-Thierry. First, unless you like walking I would recommend driving the road to the Memorial. Please note that as of right now renovations are being done so you cannot walk right up to the Memorial. It was a solemn, reverent visit for... 更多
High on a hill overlooking Chateau-Thierry is a huge memorial to the US Marines and Army who fought and died in such great numbers as to boggle the mind. Take a picnic, consider the war.
can't begin to describe the reverent and somber feeling of this place. a beautiful and fitting tribute to the many lives lost preserving freedom. RIP Its a haul into nowhere, but if you're a military man, you won't regret the trip
It's west of the city up a steep incline. I read other reviews saying it was a 30 minute walk from the city center, so my husband and I decided to do it. It's really more like an hour. We used our GPS and put it in walking mode. We went up on a street called Charles Henry. It was... 更多
If you are in the area or had a relative who fought here, make sure to visit. But I don't believe I would make the trip here from Paris just to visit this monument. The American cemetery nearby and battleground were well worth the trip so all together we enjoyed our visit.
Our visit was restricted because the enormous terrace was all off limits due to repair work, with a huge jigsaw puzzle of flagstones, recovered and new, awaiting refitting in place. Nonetheless we enjoyed our short visit of less than 30 minutes. We did not see anything to read at the location, nor is there anything else, but this may improve... 更多
This monument high up on a hill overlooking Chateau Thierry is most impressive in a nice woodland setting with plenty of seats around There are information boards telling about the various nearby battles and about the American involvement Well maintained
This is a massive, very impressive structure, standing on a hilltop with a commanding view overlooking the valley of the Marne River. It commemorates the efforts of American troops during the Second Battle of the Marne. On one side there are the beautiful figures of two women, representing France and the United States; on the valley side there is a... 更多
Historical monument - worth visiting - NICE VIEW FOR LANDSCAPE PHOTO It is the monument of American soldiers deceased from two wars. It is honourably well organised. Worth visiting for a memory of their sacrifice. Very ZEN and a nice landscape view of Chateau Thierry
