The bridge is a very beautiful structure that can be appreciated on the approach, but you’ll have to pay to cross it. Unfortunately, there are no well-marked spots to pull off to better appreciate it. My advice: go as the passenger.
Le Pont de Normandie is a toll bridge but it is worth the money when travelling west from Le Havre to begin your holiday
This is a bridge, you know, it connects two sides of a river. Travelling across it is no big deal (unless you choke on the 5.50 euro toll). However, taking pictures of its graceful cable once you are OFF the bridge and looking back on it is gorgeous. Go to take pictures from afar. No need to cross!
As a pieces of modern architecture these bridges are magnificent and a sight to behold from a distance and if you are travelling on the east-west/west-east route across northern France then taking Le Pont will save you about 45 minutes between Amiens and Caen, as opposed to the slightly more southerly route via Rouen. The bridge is quite scary but at the other end you are in picturesque Honfleur in minutes. A lovely place for a short break. If you want a real scare, try the Millau viaduct in southern France.
This is a really huge bridge. But I did not make a special impression, I did not feel any thrill of fear. Perhaps because we were driving it at low tide. It is just a bridge of course, but it is a huge one. The view it offers is awesome and going up it you'll feel like you're driving towards the sky. We paid 5,40 to go over it, so I personally wouldn't go over it too often.
