Thurnham castle ruin lies within the grounds and apart from this being a grassy open space there is not much else apart from a free car park with a pay and display machine that is out of order. The site is poorly maintained and apart from the castle the signage is negligible.
What a wonderful country park, beautifully managed and in the perfect location for a break from driving or as a destination in its own right. Fabulous walks and just the most breathtaking views over the valley below
A country park above Detling north of Maidstone, the White Horse Wood Country Park offers a place for walks and picnics. If you are looking for playgrounds, entertainment, cafe or toilets then this isn't the place for you.
Much smaller than some of the other Kent country parks and only kept the kids amused for about half an hour. Plenty of parking but nowhere to get a cup of tea or use the toilet- although you could pop into a nearby pub for a drink.

The Carl park has a little booby trap as unless you look on the odd display of the ticket machine you will miss the fact that you gave to pay at weekends as the main board has no charges listed! The castle us only a ruin but we were lucky... 更多
Typical country park. No sports fields or playgrounds, just benches, information boards and large open spaces. Ideal for dog walkers, joggers, walkers etc. Great views looking out across Bearsted, Detling and Maidstone. Keep an eye out for the buzzards, kestrels and lizards!
A very relaxing place to just walk and chill out you can walk around the ruins of Thurnham castle and look out over the hills. A lovely place for a Punic.
Lovely small park area which leads onto the Pilgrims way walk and the south downs. Views are fabulous. We visit when it;'s really windy and see if we can stand up agains the breeze!
