Having said there is not much there, parking is free. Good access for disabled and stunning views across to Maidstone on a good day. You can walk from here along the North Downs either East or West . There are some nice circular walks which take in great views and can easily include the Black Horse Pub below.
I go here quite a bit but I access it from the road that runs from the black horse at thurnham. It has amazing views and its great for my dogs. You can access the pilgrims way from here and literally walk for miles and miles. Its all well signposted.
We visited the location today for a morning walk with our two dogs. The car park was empty when we arrived. Had the whole country park to ourselves was lovely. Parking meter was working fine and we found the parking fee to be reasonable. The country park seem well kept and as we arrived there was maintenance work being carried... 更多
After seeing the trees planted ,I went to see how things were growing, only to find ,many need attention, pruning ect, gates in need of repair, no tolet, if you take children you have had it....I fail to see why the cost is high to park.....was disappointed...
Although parking isn't free, it is only £1.20 per day (£1.50 weekends and bank holidays) which is great value for money and my only negative is that it would be good to have toilet facilities at the car park. White Horse Wood Country Park is a little gem that is often overlooked by visitors who expect "rides and attractions" within... 更多
Thurnham castle ruin lies within the grounds and apart from this being a grassy open space there is not much else apart from a free car park with a pay and display machine that is out of order. The site is poorly maintained and apart from the castle the signage is negligible.
What a wonderful country park, beautifully managed and in the perfect location for a break from driving or as a destination in its own right. Fabulous walks and just the most breathtaking views over the valley below
A country park above Detling north of Maidstone, the White Horse Wood Country Park offers a place for walks and picnics. If you are looking for playgrounds, entertainment, cafe or toilets then this isn't the place for you.
Much smaller than some of the other Kent country parks and only kept the kids amused for about half an hour. Plenty of parking but nowhere to get a cup of tea or use the toilet- although you could pop into a nearby pub for a drink.
