We stopped here on the way to Sligo and unfortunately we did not have enough time to stay and explore as much as we would have liked. I was giving up for the hope while walking all the way up to the main site, but as an advice, just keep walking. All the way on the top amazing site is... 更多
A great walk for old and young. The passage tombs are amazing and the views are just incredible. Can be very tight for parking. Bring some snacks as it is quite remote.
Very remote with confusing signs suggesting you have to leave your car at least a mile back from the passage tombs with no obvious parking. Also no information at the sites. Well worth persevering though; there are several old ruins including one in tact, perfectly preserved, accessible passage tomb with no graffiti or litter. Set against a beautiful backdrop. A... 更多
Sligo is one of the most amazing counties in Ireland and it gets no love for some reason. It is filled with phenomenal sites like this one. If you like history, megalithic and neolithic specifically, this is a true gem. There are a lot of signposts for this one from a lot of different areas, but don't be fooled and... 更多
We followed our satnav and got to the tombs no problem. HOWEVER, do not drive past the sign which says the way is suitable for cars. It is lying!!! Admittedly we don't have a 4x4, but on our way back up the hill we got completely stuck and had to push the car out of a wet, muddy, rocky rut... 更多
Found this by accident and it was the highlight of the weekend. the landscape is stunning and the walk up to the many cairns in the area is great. bring wellies.
Bring your wellies! Follow the signs until you come to a gate, open the gate and go through, then close again. If you are driving an suv or car with decent clearance proceed. Follow the road until you reach a small grass area and a sign that says pedestrians only. Pick a sheep path and proceed up the hill. You... 更多
The host of our bed and breakfast recommended we see Carrowkeel and we were very happy we did. The hike to the ancient tombs was beautiful. Very few tourist were there which made it more enjoyable.
Check the previous reviews for how to get there, no point in repeating what the others said. Some important advice for your visit: First of all, don't go in a rainy day. There is an uphill path from the car park and the road is steep and muddy. Have sturdy hiking boots or rubber boots for kids. We even saw... 更多
Went without really knowing what to expect-- the teen loved it. As others have said, go through the gate (close it please) and park at the first car park. First part of walk is on a rough road with sheep all over and gorgeous landscape. Gentle climb to the top. Now where there is a sign that says "Pedestrians Only"... 更多
