Brought here by a friend with local knowledge, and it showed. The main bar looks like the classic Irish pub, but without the ridiculous crowds of some Shop Street hostelries. They've also got a large beer garden, which had a wonderful atmosphere on a balmy summer evening. And bar prices were so reasonable, especially if you're used to Dublin prices!
As with most bars in Galway, O'Connells excels when there is a visiting band / musician. During my too-short stay here I found it to be a little dull when there was no musical distraction but had a great atmosphere when a solo singer took to the stage. The main bar area was small enough to feel part of the... 更多
Visited this bar on a Saturday afternoon with friends. All I can say is they must be making a fortune to be able to treat new customers they way they did ! Inside was like an old kitchen and boring, outside no better. Staff came out and stuck "reserved" signs on crap old benches and told us they were expecting... 更多
Very popular pub in the centre of Galway on the east side of Eyre Square. All the features of the old bar are retained. Much bigger than you would imagine from the outside. Two smaller back rooms behind the main bar. Additionally at the back of the pub is a large outdoor beer garden with seating which is ideal for... 更多
Myself and some friends visited this friendly, busy pub a few weeks ago. It has a lovely, comfortable atmosphere and a very impressive beer garden. The staff are all very friendly and approachable. We were especially entertained by the humours and witty barman Pierce.
Oconnells is a real old world bar which oozes history, it's set on the east side of eyre square and was previously and old grocer and inn. It has a massive selection of Irish whiskey and also a broad range of craft and mainstream beer, it's got too big beer gardens to the rear which are roofed and heated it... 更多
This spot is truly comfortable with friendly service. There is a back outdoor patio with heaters. When we retuned for our second visit the bartender remembered our order. If you are in the area try this place. They have any whisky you would ever want and craft beer.
A local told us about O'Connell's on our first day in Galway. We had three days to explore and we found ourselves at O'Connell's each day. Brian and Bernard made us feel like locals and we honestly never wanted to leave. We met so many great people day in and day out at this spot. I poured my first Guinness... 更多
