This is a functioning Dominican church. Within, you can see the marble pillars that were initially intended to be the organ gallery of St Pauls cathedral in London. There is a lovely shrine to the right of the main altar, Our Lady of Graces. Well worth a visit
Majestic building overlooking the river RiveLee just a small walk from city centre. A wonderful temple to God constructed between 1832 and 1839 with the portico and apse built later on in that century. While in town recently with my Mother we decided to visit St Mary's church. It was quite at the time as it was between mass times. The altar is beautiful and the ceilings are magnificent. It was a nice peaceful experience and hopefully we will make mass the next time.
We were in Cork on a pilgrimage and visited several churches. We came to St Mary as a result of a misunderstanding, thinking this was where we were to have mass! But that's another story. Nice church, didn't get to go to Mass there but it was nice praying there after a long day exploring Cork. It is probably the oldest continuously Catholic church in Cork, although not as historic as the now-Anglican Cathedrals of St Anne's and St Fin Barr's.
This is a lovely church on Popes Quay, Cork with an impressive exterior along the Quay. A nice church to visit in the heart of the city.
