We have visited a number of large distilleries recently so Abhainn Dearg was an interesting change. Great to see small distillery operations and business. They are also very environmentally conscious which was nice. Friendly folk.
We stopped in on the way back from photographing the Mangersta stacks close by. We all had a taste of the spirit and the malt. We even watched the bottling, sealing and labelling of our malt. Lovely lady manning the desk was very accommodating and fun, knew her stuff about the whiskey!
We were lucky enough to be able to spend a day at the distillery with Marco bottling our own cask that was made 5 years ago. Marco is a very special guy who is passionate about creating whisky in its purest sense. None of your fancy gizmos or flashy logos or prsitine minimalistic buildings, this is one man and his... 更多
We went as part of our tour to Scotland and was a nice surprise to visit a young local distillery in the highlands. We were met by the owner who showed us around his facilities up close and personal. His oldest whiskey is at 8 years old and we got to sample his 3 year old batch, unfortunately wont be... 更多
Just had a fantastic tour of this distillary in such a remote and beautiful part of Lewis. It was wonderful to see the whole, locally produced process in whisky making. The tour was very personal and hospitality of Marco was amazing. Especially loved having an extra tour courtesy of Marcos daughter!!! The whiskey was so good we bought 2 bottles... 更多
Marco, the malt master, welcomed us with open arms, even though we were 2 hours late and it was raining buckets when we arrived to this remote part of a remote island. His lovely daughter and dogs kept us (which included my 3 daughters) company during a very informative 90 minute history lesson on scotch making and the importance of... 更多
relatively new destillery with a bourbon cask and a sherry oak version. one already a whisky, the other still a spirit but very tasty nevertheless. Even smaller than Edradour neur Pitlochry. Short but informative guide tour, good stories, sufficient info to understand the process and the regional particulars. samples of both main products at the end of the tour. The... 更多
This distillery is beyond Aird Uig and is difficult to find as planners have not allowed them to put up signs. It is very much a traditional hand made approach to whisky. The tour is very brief because the distillery is very small. The only whisky available is 5 year old with 10 year old due in 2018. The taste... 更多
