I wanted to look at maps and local history books, so headed for the top floor. The reference rooms are spacious with plenty of seating and good lighting. Toilets are available on that floor. The staff were very helpful, though some seemed more knowledgeable than others on certain subjects. Only disappointment was that one book which should have been in... 更多
I went there to do a bit of genealogical research and was fairly quickly overwhelmed by the size and scope of this magnificent building and its content. I spent 3 hours there are only becagn to get my bearings on the possibilities for research. They have a great cafe on the ground floor and a large number of computers for... 更多
Was very surprised with all the facilities that are under one roof, including a theatre. Could easily spend a whole day there, with having a pleasant eating area with Wi-Fi. Also the researching information available, and staff very helpful. Great if you wanted research your family tree etc. Not to forget the architecture within the building.
We managed to secure places on one of the monthly behind the scene tours. With a great guide and access to areas not normally seen by the public this was a fantastic peak into the past and the world of one of the most beautiful library's in the UK, if not Europe.
Impressive indication of the Scottish attitude to public learning. Great facilities, free, beautiful interior, particularly the dome, and modern benches to compliment the historic. The doorman was friendly and obviously justifiably proud of his library.

If you want to do... 更多

Very helpful staff. The archives are fascinating. Super place to enjoy a drink and a snack. There is also a theatre on site which occasionally have productions.
This library is second to none if you are researching a thesis or dissertation.I spent weeks in their reference section. The staff could not be more helpful or friendly. If you add to that the welcoming cafe, the clean toilets and the opportunity to read newspapers for free,it is pretty good all round!
