Found this place by accident, minimal signage and up a 'close'. A hidden gem of a museum with a fascinating range of exhibits and ex-police staff on hand to give the tour. I'll bet you didn't know Glasgow was the first police force in Britain. Great place well worth visiting.
Once we found it, I don't know why it was so hard, it was a cool little gem. The men who run this are retired police officers adn had lots of information to share.
A free museum, run by volunteers, most of whom are former policemen who served with the Glasgow Police Force. This tells the story of the officers and how they fought crime rather than about the criminals who commited the crimes. The history and anecdotes of the formation of the Glasgow Police Force and development of the technology and techniques to... 更多
Came across this little museum by accident - not really advertised but the hop on hop off bus tour operator mentioned it, so we thought it would be worth a visit in the Merchant City area. Only a small museum but packed with lots of info and exhibits. The curator was really helpful and informative!
Bell Street is not on the usual tourist path but well worth a visit to this unique venue. Uniforms from all around the world. History of the force and other objects too numerous to mention. The guides have a wealth of knowledge and a desire to inform. Worth a visit.
This museum fits with the saying "good things come in small packages"! Alistair and Eddie greeted us at the door and were friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgable. Their passion comes through and is very infectious. We spent about 2 hours here and still didn't see everything, but very much enjoyed what we had time for. The museum is set up... 更多
I have a police background and thought I would stop in to see what policing is like in the UK. Glad I did, was met by Alistair and Eddie. Alistair took my daughter and I on a wonderfully informative tour about the Glasgow police dept, it's history , and dispelled a number of claims that have been made by Robert... 更多
Spent a couple of hours here just recently. Had no personal connection with the police force, only an admiration for their work. The history of the Scottish force, as presented in this small museum, proved very interesting indeed. The curator, an ex-policeman was particularly helpful and engaging. One could tell he had a real interest and passion for both the... 更多
We didn't know about this museum but we seen on the website for Glasgow Open Doors. We had no problem finding it. The volunteers were all very friendly and welcoming. It took us about 45 minutes to go round it but we could have stayed longer. It was very informative and interesting. We enjoyed our visit very much.
Worth a visit. Knowledgeable staff who seem happy to answer any questions. It is not a huge museum & could be walked around in about 10 or 15 mins.
