Wonderful beaches irrespective of the tide or weather. A bracing experience on most days, this is a 'must do' to every visitor to St Andrews. You can walk for miles if you wish!!!
A sunny day in May was a perfect time to visit. The beach is one of the finest I've seen in the UK and a pleasant place to relax. You can also pop across the road to see the golf course.
This is the Chariots of Fire beach. 1.5 mikes long with lovely sand. Popular for kiting, kite surfing, sand karting, horse riding and even walking. Very nice for sailing along although the east sands is better for launching. Beach is safe for swimming as it does not get deep quickly. Nice dunes which are being actively stabilised by local greenies.
One of my favourite things to do is go for a stroll along the West Sands. The views of the Old Town on the return leg are wonderful. The famous dunes have been fenced off which was a bit of a shock, will need to find out why they have done this? Detracts from the natural beauty of the sands.... 更多
Walked all the way to Out Head and the Local Nature Reserve. Fantastic walk to reserve, saw lot of birds, Skylarks etc. Lovely viewing platform and interp panel. Continue through the reserve along dunes till you get to road that dissects Old and New Courses, then enjoy the walk back to St Andrews watching golfers ruining a good walk!! Just... 更多
