Northern Ireland has so many great places to visit and this forest park ranks with some of the best attractions. The park has something for everyone: beautiful gardens with a. Tree collection to rival most great gardens, a castle, miles and miles of trails of different challenges,a lake, a maze,a children's playground, pastures, camping facilities, caravan facilities, bike trails ( and a hire shop ),... 更多
Having read and heard great reviews about the Annesley Garden we decided to drive a 60 mile round trip to visit after tea time. We paid £5 into the machine and parked at the lakeside...so far so good. From the lake side we walked to the garden only to find it shut! Lovely location. Lovely wrought iron gates into garden.... 更多
The castle is private and cannot be toured, however you can get a pic of it from the outside. Our main reason for going to Castlewellan is to go into the Peace Maze which is the 2nd largest hedge maze in the world. We had a toddler and she could run around and have safe freedom. We stayed close to... 更多
Enjoyed a day walking in the park beautiful grounds and the grand children enjoyed getting lost in the maze. Would definitely go back and would recommend the forest park to anyone
Nice walks around the forest with stunning views of the old castle and the Lake. You can't visit Castlewellan and not see this beautiful place. You can walk for miles. It's very picturesque. You can drive the car in with free parking.
I'd recommend the Slievenaslat walk. It says strenuous, but it's quite short, so as long as you don't mind a steep climb up and down, you'll be fine! Views of Mournes and the sea are worth it on a clear day. Pretty bluebells at this time of year. Very peaceful place. We arrived at 10.30am and had the walk all... 更多
I was completely and utterly disgusted by the attitude of a member of the park staff towards my family. We drove into the park with the intention of visiting the coffee shop as a treat for the children as the weather was dismal. When I got to the gate I asked if you had to pay to visit the coffee... 更多
Enjoyed a day here recently and visited the gardens which I highly recommend all visitors take the time to see. Some beautiful trees in bloom and no rubbish lying anywhere this time round. Toilet facilities clean as a whistle - the tea room menu is on the expensive side however.
We have been coming to Castlewellan forest park for years, both to visit and to stay. The Mourne mountains provide a stunning backdrop to this beautiful location and the park is clean and well kept. The castle sits majestically in the hillside overlooking the lake and gardens and the scenery really is a breath of fresh air. The mountain bike... 更多
