What a drive, well worth the excitement of hairpin curves, beautiful views, country life up close! The farmers must get tired of people putzing around on their farm roads. Every farmer waved! Absolutely beautiful and undiscovered. This bay is tucked away behind Fair head in Ballycastle and has a fairy atmosphere all of its own. This is a turn off the Torr (coast) road from ballycastle to Cushendun which was voted 4th in the world for great coastal drives - absolutely spectacular! Dont miss it.
Absolutely one of my favourite places, not just in Ireland, but in the world. The scenery is just stunning. I've been there twice in the past week and, to go late evening when there is nobody around and to stand and drink in that view, is one of life's blessings. Highly recommended.
We wondered quite where we were going at first. .. seemed like a road to nowhere and perhaps not for the faint - hearted with its twists and turns and blind summits. But it was worth the drive. Hardly anyone there, so easy to park and so very beautiful with views along the beach and towards Fair Head.
This was our second shot at Fairhead and Murlough, the first being called off due to weather. On a clear day like we had the view cannot be matched. The paths are mostly sheep trails so you can go where you want. It was windy so we needed to be a bit careful near the cliff edge.
