Normally we cycle along the canal, through Cwm Carn scenic drive and approach Twm Barlwm along the ridge Having less time, we took the car, parked below it and having made the steep walk to the summit, enjoyed the fresh air and views out over Newport, Cardiff and the Severn Estuary A few others had the same idea. From Cwmcarn Scenic Drive (or what ever its called now) its ok. From Risca up Mountain Road - give it a miss unless you like litter, burned out cars and kids on illegal motorcycles. Its not really changed in that respect for 30 years... its not policed or managed from the Risca end and come November watch out for the... 更多
fresh air great views peaceful surroundings and loads of sheep. like many parts of wales it has lovely views and a really calming environment Not really the highest of mounts but as part of the cwmcarn forest drive it adds to a great day out
A lovely destination. There is a very narrow lane leading up to the top of the mountain. Locally it is known as the tump. Once you have parked the car at the top, there is a long, steep walk to the tump. Breathtaking views across several counties and the Bristol Channel.
If you are in South Wales and looking for a lovely day out head to the fforest drive in Risca. This is an excellent starting point for the mountain. Along the trail there are a lot of activities for children of all ages and a walk up to the top of the mountain will assure a good nights sleep. Take... 更多
I live in the shadow of Mynydd Twmbarlwm and the views from its summit are brilliant. Vehicle access to within about half a mile from the summit but a steep climb then awaits, well worth the effort on a clear day for spectacular scenery.
This is a lovely walk. It's not far from the carpark to the trig point at the top. Walk it not at all steep or challenging. Great views. NB: this is nowhere near Cardiff. It is in the south east of Caerphilly county - closer to Newport.
