A great day out starting with a boat trip from Weston-super-Mare, island staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable and interesting. So much recent history on the island as well as the birds. So something for everyone.
Depending on the tides 10 am from Penarth 6 pm back 5 hours on the island all can be accomplished in 3 the other 2 relax soak up the isolation If you don't like seagulls don't bother Sense that visiting is milking tourists but then again where isn't Bring own food bar cup of tea Psittacosis hopefully not but many... 更多
Was here as a gift and what a great afternoon spent on this slightly wild island. Mad journey by rib boat to the island. Visitors limited to twice a month. The island is home to eating gannets, bunnies and Welsh black sheep plus peregrine falcons ( didn't see). Little Shop and café where u can get a hot drink or... 更多
Visited here in August last year. What an epic little island! There are far too many seagulls flying above which is the only thing that put me off - though the weather was fantastic and there were a few cool geocaches on the island with a nice small pub too! The view was fantastic looking back towards Cardiff Bay with... 更多
Excellent afternoon away from it all. Started from Cardiff Bay Barrage where a nice gentleman in a Bush Hat gave us a parking token to park for free. We later discovered he was accompaning us on board the World's smallest Vehicle Ferry (space for one car if you take all the seats out!) and we set out through the Barrage... 更多
First of all we were given a free car parking token. Luckily we hadn't already paid! The boat trip out was smooth and the beach landing good. There was a walk up a steepish pebbly beach before we got onto the island proper. There was a safety and protocol talk at the old barracks first. This is also where the... 更多
Less than one hour by boat from Cardiff, Flat Holm is a world away. Stay in a dormitory, or camp, although I understand a holiday cottage will be available later this year. The Gull and Leek is Wales' most southerly pub with large beer garden. Truly an amazing experience!
Yesterday we arrived at Cardiff barrage car park and were greeted by Peter who gave us a free car parking pass(unexpected and glady received). The boat (from mw Marine) arrived and after we all embarked, set sail through the barrage locks and off to flatholm, an experience in itself. Once on the island a slow walk across the pebble beach... 更多
I have visited Faltholm on the Westward Ho on several occasions and it's a brilliant day out. There is loads to see and depending on the time of year, the Gull colony is more or less active. When the gulls have their young they are fairly protective and noisy but for kids it's great fun spotting all the nests and... 更多
