With its huge car park and metalled track leading to a concrete stairway this does not bode well for solitude, away from it all or communion with nature. Strangely, as you stroll round the earthworks, the crowds melt away leaving behind a real aura of history as the ghosts of ancient brits jolt for your attention. The walk south along... 更多
A distinctive jelly mould shape, as an Iron Age hill fort, and easily accessible from the main road, providing a short walk and excellent views including down to Elgar's House
Yet another very special part of the Malvern Hills and not to be missed. If you are not walking one or more of the hills together then this is a moderately easy ascent from the car park situated near-by.
A relatively gentle walk from the carpark along well-maintained paths takes you to a viewpoint which must be amongst the most panoramic in the UK. There is also quite an eerie feeling to the site, .given its history - it's not just a walk up any old hill. Incidentally, we found the guidebook by Amanda Simons invaluable in its background... 更多

Furthermore if... 更多

A walk to the top of Herefordshire Beacon, aka British Camp,is an experience not to be missed. I recommend getting a copy of "British Camp" (ISBN 0952776057) by local author Amanda Simons as a useful handbook to accompany your visit complete with guided walk.
This is a historic hill fort & well worth doing a little research prior to visiting if you want to "see the history". There is a good car park & a snack bar at the base. There is also a hotel / bar opposite. It is a fairly steep hill to start with so you need to be fairly mobile,... 更多
