It's a lovely property and has some stunning topiary in the garden! The guides in each room know so much - ask them lots of questions to really experience the place.
We had watched the BBC television programme "To the Manor Reborn" which followed the rehabilitation of the manor house and looking forward to a visit which didn`t disappoint us. The project`s aim was to create a new and unique experience, which was achieved, bringing to life the history from the Tudors to the 1930`s. The kitchen garden was also recreated... 更多
We visited Avebury stone circle and Avebury Manor and it is well worth a visit, mind you this took us all day as there is so much to see! The stone circle is of course hugely impressive, and the Manor is fascinating after the collaboration between the BBC and the NT to furnish and decorate each room as a different... 更多
Nice building set in pleasant but not outstanding gardens. However, the interior, having been ravaged by some trainee set designer from the BBC, is appalling! This sort of stuff belongs in a children's playground, and is not something the National Trust should be involved with. There are probably countless children telling their friends that they saw Queens Anne's bedroom, and... 更多
Having watched the BBC documentary record of the transformation of this previously dilapidated manor some years ago, we were keen to see for ourselves the new look. Each room was lovingly restored and the room guides were keen to share interesting facts about the makeover. The rooms are each decorated to represent a different era. Visitors are encouraged to touch... 更多
Visited the Manor House after a gap of several years, following the BBC and National Trust makeover. I found the new decor and scene setting made the old house come alive. Each room has been styled and decorated in a different era to reflect the history of the old house. Some of the BBC settings felt a bit like a... 更多
The manor is set out (paid for by the BBC for a documentary TV series with Penelope Keith which aired a few years ago) to reflect different periods through history. My personal favourite being the 1930's hall area. Throughout the rooms you can sit on/touch and feel items as they have been made or brought in (a bit like a... 更多
Had so much fun here!! You can touch things and not get told off!! The children were able to dress up in tudor costumes and get into the beds!! the house is decorated from various periods through history there is also a childs guide that they wear round their necks and keeps them occupied too - only drawback is the... 更多
The manor is part of a good day out for the family. The National Trust operate a car park nearby (free to use if you are members). Then it is a short walk to the manor. On the way you pass a cafe, shop and a couple of museums. The Manor House is operated a bit different to others. Here... 更多
Kids loved visiting this kid friendly house. They could bounce on chairs and lie on beds, grind flour in the kitchen....lively time here. We are national trust members so it was included but would have been worth it here. Tip....don't pay to go in the museum....rubbish
Every room was a different age which fitted the room decoration. What a little gem. Guides that obviously loved the place were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. do not rush this Manor it deserves your time. the gardens were amazing and so well kept it was worth the extra time exploring them
Completely different to other NT buildings you may have seen but really interesting. A manor that no one knew what to do with, then Penelope Keith and the BBC got involved. Maybe watch Manor Reborn before your visit.
I like to be outside in the sunshine..... so I was only a little interested and it has recentley been re-vamped. As I as live here in UK ....I see other places and buldings equally . interesting...
