We visited the manor today after enjoying a superb tour of the stone circle. We were very interested in the house as we had heard of its unique character. Many of the room guides were very polite and happy to share their knowledge with us however we were rather surprised to be met by a group of guides obviously wanting... 更多
It's not often that you visit an historic home and the guides ask you to touch everything! Just be sure to take off your shoes before trying the bed. We had such an enjoyable visit. The docents in each room were delighted to answer questions and tell stories about the previous residents. We tried out the billiard table, tried on... 更多
This is not your average NT property. You don't get the grumpy guide saying "don't touch this, don't touch that" etc. Avebury Manor encourages you to explore. There are a few rules but that is to preserve the Manor for others. Entrances are timed so you may have to wait for your allotted time in busy periods. This is designed... 更多
It's one of the smaller NT properties, so a short visit. Staff very good, rooms good, garden ok. Worth visiting as part of a day in Avebury. Cafe gets very busy, so be patient.
But even without going in to the house - this is a wonderful disorganised bit of Tudor house-building. And what a site. We will come back when we can dawdle but I am convinced that this will get an excellent when we return
Very well done. The BBC five years ago did a good job of re-creating seven rooms in different historical time zones. Well done, with a Christmas twist and most knowledgeable guides who brought the house to life. Yes, nice to get out of the cold.
Visiting with our 12 year old girls - it was great to be able to touch the exhibits freely. Helped to imagine what it would have been like
Although we were just two adults on our own we ere delighted to see children exploring, trying and enjoying the Manor. As it was half term there were plenty of them. The NT guide in the bedroom was especially good with children encouraging them to get up on the bed, after taking their shoes off of course, giving them information... 更多
Great location -you are positively encouraged to touch, sit on, play with the hoard of furniture, ornaments and knickknacks. The room guides are brimming with information and the gardens are beautiful. The museums and the stones are nearby so there is no shortage of things to do. The tea room is the best ever!
This house and gardens are a delight. Inside the house and dotted around are very friendly, informative staff. Roam the well kept gardens afterwards
