I'm regularly in Newcastle and this is one of my favourite places to eat, especially from the Early Menu. I'm meat free for Lent so chose the goats curd and salad starter which apple and walnuts which was delicious. My husband and I came here for an anniversary dinner. The food we had was really nice however the restaurant itself was particularly cold - if you're going wear something warm!

Book to avoid disappointment or waiting. Great menu (upper class) in a lovely historic setting. Look out for special themed events. Sea food for me is the best, but other guest said steak was exceptionally good too
Excellent traditional food using mainly local ingredients. A little expensive. Staff were very pleasant and when a friend mentioned we were celebrating a birthday we were brought a complementary glass of Prosecco.
