This is a small property and we had few hours to spare Friday morning. Arrived at 11am as it opens then - but when leaving car park there are no signs actually directing one to the house - we spent 10 mins among the private houses adjacent to the property then returned to car park and went through a closed... 更多
Only been a National Trust property for 6 years. Lord Nuffield was the Bill Gates of his era donating the majority of his wealth to good causes. The house reflects Lord and Lady Nuffields fairly frugal living but is an extremely interesting place. Make sure you take in the story of the house from a volunteer before entering the house... 更多
This little gem is a fascinating place to visit! Very knowledgeable and passionate volunteers are eager to share the story of this house and its owners. The story is very intriguing and inspiring.. It is ideal to combine visiting Nuffield place and Basildon Park! My partner and I had a wonderful day visiting both..
Visited with no real idea of what to expect, but found this to be a real gem of a place. The enthusiasm of the National Trust volunteers brought the house, and the life of William Morris, to life in a fascinating way. Would definitely recommend.
We are members of the National Trust & look to justify the membership fee by visiting NT locations whenever we are in the area. This was one of the smaller properties we have visited, but was nevertheless very interesting, due to the previous residents background & important contribution to the country. Only a short visit but worthwhile.
Although this is a relatively small National Trust property it is well worth visiting to discover more about William Morris & his life. The staff were helpful & enthusiastic & I enjoyed finding out more about the Nuffield Foundation. The cafe is too small & cramped which is a shame.
A superbly homely National Trust property. Don't miss the introductory talk - it puts it all into context. So much we didn't know about Lord Nuffield - what a great philanthropist, he certainly did great deeds with his money, just like Bill Gates (Just wish more of the wealthy in the world had their attitude) Highly recommended
We visited on the last day of the season and the house was still quite busy, we found the introductory talk on the lawn fascinating, I never knew that iron lungs had been made in the Morris Car Garage. The house itself felt a lot more homely than most National Trust properties and you really got a sense of the... 更多
By NT standards Nuffield Place is a small property, but well worth a visit to understand the person behind the Nuffield Foundation and various beneficiaries. A highlight for car buffs is the 1930's Wolseley kept in the garage, but not far behind is the tool cupboard, housed in the bedroom wardrobe1 The small café is rather cramped and the service... 更多
