Very informative museum about Roman Britain and well worth visiting if you're in the area. We did this along with Vindolanda.
I loved touring the Roman Army Museum in Hexham. Such a font of information. The film was excellent. I really came away from my trip to the museum with more knowledge. Thank you!
Stopped off after visiting vindolanda Recived a warm welcome from all the staff The step back in time in the Roman classroom was excellent my four year old son took part and shouted out the answers The 3D film was short and just the right length to keep my son engaged The artefacts there are excellent and the information is... 更多
Visited here before Vindolanda & would recommend doing it this way round as the museum gives you loads of information to apply as you go round the site. The museum was fully wheelchair accessible with easily identifiable places for wheelchairs in the 3D cinema. Some nice interactive pieces for the younger visitors & the quiz was a good touch to... 更多
This is a night attraction when looking for something to do indoor. The 3D film is also worth seeing. This is a small museum but very interesting. We got the duel ticket, so when a nice day turns up we'll visit Vindolanda.
This is another cracking attraction with fantastic staff! We popped over from the nearby Vindolanda. You can easily do both in one day. This one is better if it's raining though, as it's all inside. They have been very imaginative and creative with their displays as well, rather than just having "stuff to read". This kept our 6-year-old captivated throughout... 更多
This was an interesting and well laid-out museum. It stands on its own, a few miles down the road from Vindolanda and before the Birdoswald Fort, but this wasn't a problem for me. The museum used a variety of media to enhance the visitor's experience of what it might have been like to be posted to Hadrian's Wall some 2000... 更多
Loved it here. Interactive museum with fantastic displays, videos and holographic latin teacher. We visited early on our way home and had bought a joint ticket with Vindolanda. It was lovely and quiet and was a joy to visit.
Tells the story of the Wall, the life of the Roman soldier and explores the language and alphabet of the Romans. Good use of video and certainly appealed to us two adults (minus our teenager this time). It is close to the Wall which can be reached with a short walk up the road. Look out for the Centurion's helmet... 更多
Well planned displays and an excellent 3d film give you a really thorough overview of the Romans on hadrians wall. We got the joint ticket with vindolanda- well worth every penny! Leart a lot in the interactive classroom too. Highly recommend.
We visited the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda after buying the shared ticket for both sites. We spent the morning walking around Vindolanda with the afternoon spent at the museum and a walk up to the wall on the crags. A great museum with some fascinating insights into what the romans did in the North East, before, during and after... 更多
With our 2 for 1 ticket purchased at Vidolanda we ventured onto the Roman Army Museum. Again the site was well organised and was only a javelin’s throw from Hadrian’s Wall. The Museum is slightly smaller than the one at Vidolanda; but is still very educational and gives you an insight into army life at the wall and just how... 更多
