This house used to belong to the Terry's family of Terry's chocolate fame (think chocolate oranges). Their factory was where the race course is now. It is an interesting house with mementoes and history of Terry's chocolate company including a film of when the Queen Mother (then the Queen) visited in the 1930s. There are also lovely gardens. The café... 更多
Really interesting hose, friendly guides , shame the original furniture was shipped off to Fairfax House though ( why?). Lovely intimate gardens with race course and Terry Tower to rear.
A must see NT gem. Family home of Terry's chocs family. Elizabeth at the entrance sets the scene for a delightful visit. The real pleasure here is that visitors can truly relax and enjoy the house and gardens. The original furniture is on show at Fairfax House but plenty of opportunity for unwinding in the lounge or in the gardens.... 更多
The house of Noel Terry, one-time owner of Terry's Chocolate factory in York, is situated by the side of the racecourse on the outskirts of the city. It is not well signposted as you leave the city centre and the carpark isnt easy to find , until you have gone down the drive and almost missed the turning left. Apparently... 更多
This a stunning house with beautiful gardens. The volunteers there were great and really enjoyed talking to us. We decided to have afternoon tea which was delicious (The Terry's chocolate orange cake was amazing!). Would highly recommend!
I went for the first time with relatives recently, after having lived in the area for years. It's a bit of a gem tucked off the main road. The house is bigger than it looks from the road, and the gardens (even in October) were lovely. For someone of my age (42), there were lots of examples of Terry's products... 更多
An interesting family home and beautiful gardens, celebrating the Terry family and their chocolate. The staff are friendly and informative.
I am not a National Trust member so paid to visit the house which cost around £6.00. I thought this was a fair amount to pay. The rooms and exhibits were interesting the staff were very pleasant and engaging. The gardens were lovely and I think you would be able to look round these without paying but maybe that would... 更多
I'd been meaning to visit here for some time despite driving past numerous times so finally made it. Not disappointed either as a real architectural gem of an arts and craft style of building. The furniture in it isn't what was in the house originally but in the same style of the era. There are rooms dedicated to the Terry's... 更多
