These Memorial gates are located near Hyde park, they stand out as they are very modern looking and the queen inaugurated them in 2002. They commemorate the soldiers of the Commonwealth who died fighting for our country.

Visited on a very rainy day, unfortunately. In both wars, the soldiers came from the colonies, to fight side by side with the British. This monument commemorates the fallen heroes of the former colonies. Especially, if you have ties to Asia, you should visit this monument. This is a great monument that I'd defiantly recommend to anyone passing by. It's also very unique compared to some of the other war memorials you'll see in Britain as it commemorates those from Britain's empire who fought during the world wars but we're largely forgotten for years afterwards.
There's no need for me to duplicate the information provided by previous reviewers, but none of them bothered to mention that the brave people commemorated here were all volunteers. This is a different kind of memorial, which doesn't really look like 'gates' to me but is sited on both sides of this wide thoroughfare. Definitely worth a visit to pay... 更多
