We signed up for this on Easter Sunday. Despite being a little late getting started our double sized group was looked after by two guides who were both excellent. Full instructions are given so no need to have any prior experience. It's definitely something very different to do in the area and we would thoroughly recommend it. After a somewhat... 更多
Visited the slate mine early one morning following a very scenic drive from Keswick to the mine. Hadn't booked but paid for the Kimberley mine tour. Thought at first that the cost was a little expensive but we fell really lucky and were the only two on the tour! So we had 'Donald' to ourselves. fantastic enthusiastic tour guide who... 更多
Great experience both via ferrata and mines and cafe !!! Wonderful exposure on the via ferrata, wonderful history and industrial archaeology in the mines and a great cup of tea in the cafe !!..............what more could you want ? Exhilarating exposure on Honister crag but very safe
Had a great time at the mine and the kids really loved it. There was information about the history of the area and the guide was great at bringing the place to life. Worth the trip but wrap up warm - it can be freezing!
An excellent outing on a day of torrential rain! We rang ahead and were able to get on a tour of the mines at a time that suited us. When we arrived Roly put everyone to ease and his friendly, yet professional nature was perfect for a group of tourists. The tour was excellent and the detail provided was great.... 更多
The slate mine is set at the top of a beautiful long drive through the Lake District, which makes the journey worthwhile. The mine is one of the few remaining slate mines still in use and well worth a visit. There's a store selling all sorts of slate products for the home and garden.
We hoped to walk around Fleetwith Pike but the snow was to much for us as we were caught out by the weather. Instead we took the Miner's Trail walk offered by the Honister Mine, what a great experience, so interesting and such fun with Rolly such a great host :-) Well worth a visit anytime!
Got tickets for this after telling the kids I wanted a go, me and my big mouth lol. Seriously though a fantastic experience and well worth a go the guide we had Hayley was fantastic, great fun and so encouraging the weather was kind a lovely sunny day think it wouldn't have been good in the wet. So any crazy... 更多
This is the last working slate mine in the lakes district. Pity slate is so heavy or i would have had to buy some of the objects in the shop but as an international traveller i had to keep my credit card in my wallet.
We were looking for something to do on a wet and cold day in Cumbria and we went to the slate mine. It is still a working mine although the part that you visit is no longer worked. Getting there you have to drive from Keswick and climb up the mountain on a windy country road. The scenery is fantastic.... 更多
The Slate Mine is a good place to stop off and visit when coming over the pass. Well worth doing the Mine Tour and the shop has a good stock of gifts of various sizes and designs. There is a small cafe there if you fancy a warming cuppa!
The weather was extreme _ hail, snow, wind, rain, Sun! Despite this it was surprisingly sheltered . Only 3 of us braved the cold at 9 am. Great guide, Steve. Took my 12 year old daughters, who were pleased we'd opted for the extreme and not classic. It was challenging, but not too much. The views of the valley are... 更多
This was an interesting tour although cold when we went. get wrapped up and you're fine. The guide we had was an older chap and his enthusiasm was catching.his father had mined and he had also worked in the mine. His experience and stories added to the tour.Although a little pricey well worth a visit. There is a shop with slate... 更多
