We have walked all over England but keep returning to Wight. We spent a week here at the end of April. While the weather was not the best (snow flurries one day!). The beautiful scenery makes up for it - you are always near water. The trails are well marked, relatively uncrowded, never boring and with a little planning you... 更多
It is amazing landscape who loves the nature. Walking-path along the beach are clean and you have to stop in every minute to take a photo of magnificient panorama.
Took the hovercraft from Southsea to Ryde as foot passengers. So easy and quick! Then walked from Ryde, stopping for lunch in Bembridge. Stopped near the RNLI and had a great half lobster salad for lunch! Passed across Whitecliff Bay - stunning and then across the cliffs and down into Sandown ( magical walking down!). Then caught one of the... 更多
We decided to do the walk along the esplanade rather than the cliff top walk. It is approximately three miles from Shanklin to Sandown with lots of places to rest along the way gazing out to sea at the many boats or paddle boarders. There are also various places to stop along the way to have something eat or light... 更多
We only did a small part of the coastal path lately, however from the small 8 Mike section we travelled it is varied, well signposted, gives a variety of views and terrain. Especially good with the good weather.
We completed the walk in 7 walking days. The walks were easy and we had a great time. We enjoyed te parts from Yarmourh to Ventnor most. The walk from Ryde to Cowes was somewhat boring because we walked a lot besides busy roads and through areas with houses, but this was only one day. There are lots of overnight... 更多
This is the second time I have done this walk and highly recommend it for the 'moderate' walker if you are going to complete it in one go. I completed it in three and a half days and enjoyed every moment. Stayed in a hotel in Shanklin and used the excellent buses to get around. The path is clearly marked... 更多
We took five days to walk the whole route in a clockwise direction. We therefore averaged 22 - 25k a day but to make it easier and give yourself more time you could cover it in 7 days and therefore visit more attractions. We used Newport as our base as it is centrally placed and we would bus out to... 更多
Here are just some tips I picked up from walking the path. Bus services from Southern Vectis are excellent, and they can all be found in one pamphlet. Their map is invaluable. The section from Ryde clockwise around to Yarmouth is excellent. Open views, dry(ish) paths, cliff walking and shore walking, towns and country. The section from Yarmouth clockwise to... 更多
Having just completed this walk I was astounded by just how much coastal erosion was evident. The footpath between Freshwater and and St Catherine's Point takes a number of diversions in land and there is still storm damage in a few places between Yarmouth and Cowes. Therefore using the beach as an alternative route isn't always advisable as getting on... 更多
