Caught the bus from Lake into Ryde. Set off on the walk along the sea front at Ryde and heading to Appley Tower. Further on from this if the tide is in you have to head in land. On a rainy day like the start of the walk was its a bit of a crappy walk. Eventually cross the causeway... 更多
I've done 4 sections of the coast path this week. Loved them all. Great scenery. Really varied. Some are easy and flat - Shanklin to Sandown. Others have steep challenging sections - Ventnor to Shanklin. Alum Bay to Freshwater Bay via the Needles is spectacular. Worth checking at a tourist office for details before you start out if you're not... 更多
There are essentially 2 routes along the front and they are both much, much easier than the Shanklin to Ventnor walk, however there are some slopes / steps that you must cope with which ever walk you take. On the walk that we did, the upper walk, part way we were diverted down a relatively steep slope/steps to the promenade... 更多
We must have chosen the best weather day of the year so far, blue skies, blue green sea and not a cloud in sight. Set off from the ferry port at Yarmouth and stayed on the coastal footpath all the way to Freshwater, when the bus timetable meant we had to cut our journey short and return to base near... 更多
We have walked all over England but keep returning to Wight. We spent a week here at the end of April. While the weather was not the best (snow flurries one day!). The beautiful scenery makes up for it - you are always near water. The trails are well marked, relatively uncrowded, never boring and with a little planning you... 更多
It is amazing landscape who loves the nature. Walking-path along the beach are clean and you have to stop in every minute to take a photo of magnificient panorama.
Took the hovercraft from Southsea to Ryde as foot passengers. So easy and quick! Then walked from Ryde, stopping for lunch in Bembridge. Stopped near the RNLI and had a great half lobster salad for lunch! Passed across Whitecliff Bay - stunning and then across the cliffs and down into Sandown ( magical walking down!). Then caught one of the... 更多
We decided to do the walk along the esplanade rather than the cliff top walk. It is approximately three miles from Shanklin to Sandown with lots of places to rest along the way gazing out to sea at the many boats or paddle boarders. There are also various places to stop along the way to have something eat or light... 更多
We only did a small part of the coastal path lately, however from the small 8 Mike section we travelled it is varied, well signposted, gives a variety of views and terrain. Especially good with the good weather.
