We called in to look at the ruins of Hails Abbey to take a break from a walk on the nearby Cotswold Way. It is an English Heritage site but entrance is also free to National Trust members. We were provided with a free audio guide but there were also good display boards dotted around the ruins. There is not... 更多
My brother and I decided to visit Hailes Abbey on his last day of vacation since we had been there several years ago and enjoyed it. We were not disappointed! The man at the ticket office was very friendly and did offer us the audio guides. He also went out of his way to assist a couple who could not... 更多
It may have been a more enjoyable stay if the gentleman at the desk wasnt so rude. He didnt take kindly if you were a national trust or english heritage member. We also were not acknowledged coming in or leaving. Also not offered audio. He was overly friendly to paying guests and they got offered audio but he also treated... 更多
We had a lovely walk around Hailes Abbey. The ruins are set in beautiful countryside with a very peaceful atmosphere. We were not offered the audio tour but there is a good amount of information on the signs as you walk around. The only thing that stops it being 5/5 was the lack of communication from the member of staff.... 更多
I admit to being biased here, as I love ruins. This was a worthwhile stop on a walk from Winchcombe to Broadway. The audio guide was good (particularly for those with little background in monastic history), but the National Trust worker in the shop made the experience with his stories and clear love for the place. I would recommend taking... 更多
We returned to Hailes Abbey on our last morning and were able to visit at 10a.m. as soon as it opened. it's very rewarding to wander around such an atmospheric place as the only visitors. There is lots to take in and you are able to appreciate what the lives of the monks and other inhabitants were like all those... 更多
Visited this site with friends. Very interesting and the audio guide is very good giving you a go I'd insight into life in a abbey in the Middle Ages. Lovely tranquil setting.
We visited on a sunny Sunday morning and what a little gem! The site is perfect, tucked away under the Cotswolds. Although the site itself is quite large there aren't quite as many ruins as you would expect. However, the audio guide is very good, as is the museum. Our "Meeter and Greeter" was Steve, who gave us a good... 更多
We visited the Abbey on a beautiful sunny day after a lovely walk along the Cotswold way. It was very quiet and peaceful despite the lovely weather. There is not a lot of the Abbey left - so you really need to use the audio to fully appreciate its history.
The site is larger than you would expect but not a great deal to see. The included audio is one of the best that I have heard and keeps your interest as it explains a great deal about the Abbey and life in the Abbey. This is run by English Heritage but National Trust members also get free entry. We... 更多
