Very dissapointed with majority of the museum.Lighting does not lend itself to make the best of the exhibits , with bad reflection and some reference numbers were unreadable. Nice to see the wall of hand axes but where was the information ? The galleries did not flow and often seemed quite disjointed, such a shame as there were some wonderful... 更多
This is fantastic museum, great displays with lots of variety and beautifully laid out. Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome too. Special mention for the young lady who was clearing the tables in the cafe when we visited - lovely person who made us feel particularly welcome.
Looking for a tourist attraction cost a lot of money to enter just one. But by entering this museum is a big hit of the town in Exeter. It provides a home to the culture and well being of the population of exeter.Furthermore, it provides a platform of learning and interaction for which youbger children can learn from the past.... 更多
Well worth a visit, we started in the morning then had lunch in the museum and then finished what we hadn't seen before lunch. You can also take a break for lunch in the many cafes and restaurants outside the museum which are too many to mention.
We hadn't planed on visiting RAMM but were so glad we did. Its got to be one of the best provincial museums I've ever been to. The different rooms were well curated easily telling a story from the broad and varied artefacts. I loved the historical element and I imagine that kids would love the interactive displays. The building itself... 更多
If you are visiting Exeter for the first time, this is an excellent place to visit. It is free and when we were there on a Saturday, there was someone on the door to welcome us. There are numerous exhibition rooms to look around, but there is not a natural sequence to a visit as each room has a different... 更多
Lovely pre and post modernisation. Great, modern exhibits of varying types and media. Suitable for everyone, all for the price of a donation ( no pressure).
We went to see the recent 'Art and Soul' exhibition. We were welcomed by a porter who gave us a floor plan. The exhibition was a brilliant survey of the gothic revival in Victorian art, design and architecture. We didn't exit through the gift shop.
Me and my partner have visited here several times now and i think its amazing what they have on display never seen such a fantastic museum however I do feel they could make more use of their space there seems to be a lot of areas that could be used to expand their displays. Very good place to take your... 更多
Every City should have a Museum like this one; beautifully laid out in an attractive old City building, there's everything from geological history through to current wildlife. Many exhibits are interactive and workshops are run for children on busy days. World interest, not just Devonian. Parents as well as children will be quite spell-bound.
Charming, very well done, interesting, welcoming and full of knowledge... Bravo! The RAMM is small, granted, yet it is totally up to date in museal design and paedagogic, it has modern facilities and a great exhibition. And its free, so GO IN!
I went to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum expecting only an art gallery (mostly my fault, as I didn't did any research about the place) and I got completely overwhelmed by the place. My all time favourite will be the natural science part of the museum, with that Victorian charm that it exudate in every single item in their collection.... 更多
It is quite clear that this museum was created putting together the collections donated by several people over the years. As a result do not expect a coherent monothematic museum or even a logical path. Each room, or sometimes group of rooms, contain essentially whatever was donated by a given individual, being it shell fossils, stuffed animals or objects coming... 更多
The whole Museum was recently comprehensively rebuilt. The architecture is an airy mixture of very modern and ultra high Victorian Gothic. Think bits of the V&A crossed with parts of Tate Modern at St Ives. There are really beautifully thought out displays of local history from geological depths, via paleo and neolithic and Romans all the way to the present.... 更多
