This is a cave that has a special atmosphere to it for sure. Be it that Merlin the sorcerer indeed once practiced his magic here or because it's such a Captivatingly beautiful site.
You can get onto the beach and explore the cave - although keep an eye on the tide! The folklore makes it great for families. Equally the geology is great for rock geeks. For those who simply enjoy stunning views and seascapes, irrespective of the weather, come here.
Fantastic scenery, feels like your part of history when visiting here. Tide was in so unable to walk through the cave but you can check tide times & plan in advance. Able to take steps right to the bottom but be careful the tide doesn't catch you & you end up soggy!

Absolutely lovely place to visit unfortunately we could not go on the beach and in merlins cave I think there was a problem with 1 of the cliffs as there was abseilers working on 1 of them and all the rocks were falling on the beach. but never mind we will go back and have another go
Whilst visiting Tintagel Castle, be sure to wait the short time for the tide going out far enough to check out Merlin's Cave. It is full of atmosphere and evokes the spirit of the King Arthur legend perfectly with it's crashing waves and dark depths.
great place to visit children liked clambering on the rocks you have to be careful of the tide coming in if on the rock that is in the centre of the beach
