If you like medieval architecture, Ely Cathedral is one of Britain's greatest examples. The large romaneasque nave and view up to the unique Octagon is breathtaking. You can do a special trip over the roof and into the Octagon. I am not the bravest when it comes to scaling heights but this was no problem and well worth the effort.... 更多
impressive cathedral in the third smallest city in UK. Good parking availability, great markets on Thursday, Saturdays and in the summer now on a Sunday as well. Good pubs, lovely old buildings too.
You'd think when you've seen and been inside one cathedral you wouldn't find another one so interesting. Ely cathedral is huge and such an interesting structure. We paid for a guided tour with Adrian. It was well worth the money - he knew his stuff and has a pleasant voice and manner in which to tell the story of the... 更多
Just an inspirational and spiritual place, the Cathedral has so much presence throughout the City. I would definitely recommend a visit.
Lovely cathedral with some very colourful characters buried/commemorated within. Definitely must visit and walk around the grounds. A very medieval experience. Shame that going up the tower is not any easier. Only a few guided tours a day 2-3 hours apart. Didn't do it.
Great architecture and peaceful building. Adult tickets are £8 each and guided tours and tower tours are also available. We bought the entry along with a tower tour which was great, especially on a clear sunny day as you can very far. Tickets last for up to a year so all in all adds value to your visit. Definitely worth... 更多
It is a beautiful cathedral with a fantastic café and staff! the entry tickets can be converted to last a year, which is great if one intends to return.
A Cathedral with a charge to get in - not unique, and probably a function of a massive building in a tiny city - someone has to fund it - but be warned. However - when you get in, it is breathtaking - especially the painted ceiling and octogan, which soar above you majestically. We didn't take a guide book... 更多
I went into Ely Cathedral to light a candle for my parents (who loved the place), pray and have a general wander round. I was confronted not far inside the door with a cash till and a demand for £8.00. It is difficult to describe and put across how wrong and distressing this is on every single level one can... 更多
“We greatly regret you were upset by the admission charge for visitors to Ely Cathedral. Free admission for those wishing... 更多
Huge cathedral, awe inspiring features and windows. The man who took the tour was so quite it was hard to hear at times, but was quite happy to answer questions.
This is a wonderful cathedral, far too big for its present-day use but historically and architecturally interesting. For me, the Octagon, the Choir and the multitude of stained glass windows were particularly outstanding. We must have walked over the Labyrinth on the way in but were so preoccupied with paying the entry fees that we somehow failed to notice it!... 更多
We lived in Littleport and would bring all of our family to visit the Cathedral when they would come into town. Also loved to picnic in the garden on sunny days and enjoy the view.
Worth a visit as there is loads of fascinating history and the architecture itself is spectacular. We went on a guided tour of the ground floor and the lady who conducted it was very knowledgeable and made very interesting and easy listening. There was also a concert due to take place in the evening and while we were there the... 更多
The cathedral is impressive from the outside but this gives you little indication of what lies within. Simply incredible architecture and I would recommend anyone in the area to visit for a couple of hours
