A good, long hike. Don't go close to the cliffs though. You can see the rock of the island in the water beneath, it is so clear. A must see!
the beauty of this park is stunning! As soon as you walk in you notice a change in the atmosphere : trees are unique paths are well maintained and every corner seems like a postcard. As you keep walking, you get to the water to find a breathtaking view if the ocean, Flora Island and the Sunshine Coast. A must... 更多
This walk had a great combination of forest and coastal grassland. The views were spectacular and the walking was not difficult. There were no mountain bikers but one couple were pushing a stroller and another was running the trail. There were many good specimens of Arbutus, Douglas Fir, and Garry Oak. The coastal cliffs, aggregate rocks and eroded shores were... 更多
The trail starts out in typical second growth forest then opens up into the dry meadows on the headlands great view to the South and east. On your return on the east side of the headland, the trail drops down to some lovely pebble beaches...no one on them. There is a great example of the dry coastal Douglas fir forest... 更多
This is a definitely must-do activity on Hornby. It can be done in any weather. although of course a sunny day is ideal to see views back to Vancouver Island and coastal mountains. The Helliwell bluffs are unique and very wonderful to admire. There are benches and lookoffs along the way, so take a lunch and plan to sit and... 更多
Hiking in Halliwell is simply beautiful. Assuming the wether behaves, it just doesn't get any better than this. For those who are leery of hikes that involve a lot of elevation, this is a perfect hike for you.
You have a view of the shore and also a view of vancouver island. I guess this could be a cute little couple getaway. I went when it was windy but pretty sure its a great place when it is a sunny day.
Helliwell Park might be quite simply the most spectacular park on any Gulf Island, and perhaps any island, anywhere. Period. Emerging from the pleasantly forested half mile access trail, your breath is suddenly sucked out: there, in front of you lies the most glorious expanse of grassy open meadows blanketing high bluffs for as far as the eye can see...and... 更多
Well worth the trip. This place is nothing short of AMAZING. You have to walk through a beautiful forest. You get to rolling hills overlooking the vast ocean. Gorgeous! Must go!
We stopped here to do a little geocaching while on the island. There is plenty of parking and restroom facilities as well before setting out on the paths.
