Last summer we went to the celebration to bring home totems of their ancestors. It was so very lovely and well organized. The food that they served was outstanding. You must visit this museum! It is so lovely. After the museum, visit James Pottery at the end of Joyce Road. Their work will dazzle you eyes:)
If you have any interest in the history of Quadra and neighbouring islands in Quadra this is well worth a visit. After visiting we decided to follow up with a visit to Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver. Starkling and shocking history of the local First Nation people. Wonderful art and culture. Very small but a visit helps to maintain this... 更多
This museum is well organized and has an interesting array of cultural and artistic artifacts. It does an excellent job explaining the tribe's culture and their recent history. The range of artifacts is broad and they are well explained. We were very happy we took the time to visit.
Have been here a few times over the years and it is on my must see list for anyone visiting the area. Some insight into the amazing arts, crafts, wisdom and skills of this culture. Thank you for sharing
Visiting friends on Quadra Island we stopped to see this Aboriginal Museum, now called Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre. This is a small museum with a big mandate to repatriate articles stolen from the community over the years. They have some amazing masks, totem poles, and other artifacts. Some are one of a kind not found anywhere else. If you are on... 更多
The Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre and Museum in Cape Mudge was our main reason for visiting Quadra Island and I can't say enough about their stunning collection of ancient masks and sacred regalia. Several weeks ago we visited the U'mista Museum in Alert Bay where the other half of the repatriated collection is stored, and both museums are wonderful. I really... 更多
One of the more exceptional Cultural Museums we have toured. The staff was exceptionally knowledgeable about the contents of the museum and their origin. Very interesting and well worth a visit while you are on Quadra Island.
I enjoy the museum and the history provided. It will take about one hour to wander around reading and appreciating the art work. They are getting ready for the arrival of 2 totems being returned to the village. Make sure you see the rocks with drawings and the war canoe. The staff are friendly.
