You need to check the tides in advance of visiting here as you can only drive there during low tide. It was a bit scary as we were there on a rainy, foggy day. The house and grounds were lovely. It is a huge mansion. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. They even took items out of cases... 更多
If you are a fan of Downton Abbey series you will enjoy your time at Minister's Abbey. For a $10 entry fee you are transported back into the late 1800's when you tour around Van Horne's summertime cottage, bathhouse, and barn. Check the tides before you go as you can only cross the road to the island during low tide... 更多
This trip to Minister's Island I saw the Saint John string quartet play at the bathhouse and it was a really enjoyable and unique experience. This island is truly beautiful even without a special event, but this made it even more cool! Keep an eye open for events on the island because I heard that there have been concerts before... 更多
We travelled to Ministers Island one afternoon after checking the schedule for tide being out. We were amazed by this NB treasure and loved touring around the grounds and especially in the large home of William Van Horne. What a beautiful and unique place to visit. We would love to return some day again.
The novelty of driving through the ocean at low tide to reach the island made for a delightful start to our excursion. The estate is interesting, especially the house with its many rooms and lovely views from the windows. Glad we stopped here for an afternoon.
Unique experience (driving along the ocean floor at low tide!) Took our one year old daughter and be sure to have a carrier for young kids- not stroller friendly. We were able to hike around the grounds wearing her and it was a great afternoon. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about the property. A fun afternoon with the... 更多
I am still in a time warp after my recent visit to Minister's Island. I will go back several times. We had only 2.5 hours and it was not long enough. It is absolutely spectacular. We wandered about the rooms, which are not cordoned off, and it was so REAL. You are not just looking from a distance, you're actually... 更多
I decided to try at cycle the 7km trail around the island. You definitely need a mountain bike as parts of the trail are quite challenging. If you want to explore as well, get there at the opening for low tide which gives you plenty of time before you have to leave. You can easily start wandering the beaches and... 更多
Minister's Island can be driven to from the mainland via a narrow beach causeway only during "low tide" periods making this an "experience" in itself. There are hiking trails available throughout as well as a private home to explore (fee imposed)
