Took my 2 year old who loves trains and while it's a lot of history that a small child can't really understand he had a great time. They have an awesome model railway downstairs that he loved. They have lots of restoration work that needs to be done still on the rail cars. I wish they had more hands on... 更多
An amazing collection of rolling stock, in all sorts of conditions. Touring the rail cars done with a guide, various tours with various prices. Many other exhibits to explore which are free of charge. Worthwhile, interesting to see the primary mode of travel before cars and airplanes took over
We took the tour through the rain museum. It was very interesting and our guide was full of information. I don't know how one person could remember all those details about each train car. Great job! If you're a train fanatic, interested in trains, or interested in history in general this is a must.
The museum specializes in restoration of old, luxury rail cars, We took the full tour, just two of us plus the guide. Some wonderful old coaches and fine examples of the restoration work done. An excellent tour
We took our two youngsters there, and they had a great time roaming, checking out the model train setup (very impressive!), and managed to behave during the train car tour. Very friendly staff were knowledgeable and patient with our little guys. Our only suggestion would be a little more selection in the gift shop.
As a hard working railroaded myself I was passing through and had to stop in on my day off and experience the museum.. It's really neat and I picked up a few things from my trip. Fun for the family if you have a few min while in town. Worth the visit.
We are not huge train fans but this tour was fascinating and given by a terrific guide. You get to walk through trains from different periods and the guide points out what a passenger would typically experience including food and atmosphere. Lots of interesting trivia about decor over the years.
It is a museum so the interaction is entirely displays. some such as the model train room are a bit interactive and kids like it. The guided tour of the antique passenger train on site give a great look at the era of rail coach travel and show just how lavish they were especially compared to today.
You are taken on three tours - which equal about two hours in length of several different passenger trains. The tours are packed with interesting stories. Several of the train cars are fully restored to like new condition. In the basement of the museum is a huge model train display. I would recommend this for train lovers of all ages.
The Cranbrook History Centre is easy to locate on Hwy 3 parallel to the current Canadian Pacific Railway yard. The Canadian Museum of Rail Travel is the major attraction at the Centre. Its collection includes five passenger train sets dating from 1887 to 1936. These can only be viewed by taking a scheduled guided tour. Charges vary for each tour.... 更多
