This trail is excellent for a bicycle ride between Victoria and Sidney. Well marked but be aware there are a couple sections that are gravel and after (or during) rain you will kick up mud a you may need to wipe down your bike. That is not a strike against the trail, simply a fact. Interesting scenery along the route... 更多
Cyclists, be aware. This is a multi user corridor. Cyclists are obligated to ride single file when passing other users. Cyclists should use good trail etiquette and yield to all foot traffic, including dog walkers and especially equestrians. Make sure you alert when approaching foot traffic and equestrians from behind, by ringing your bell or calling out and reducing your... 更多
a small group (12) cycle using the dockside as a starting point for our twice weekly cycling. It is well maintained, avoids a lot of the vehicle traffic and connects with the Galloping goose regional trail plus other routes. sometimes a bit busy with cyclist and walkers but all very manageable.
I've traveled the the Lochside trail many times by bicycle. this trail is highly recommended for locals or visitors. It is an easy flat ride. One of he highlights of the trail are the pigs seen in photo, also a mini airfield for model planes and great scenery of farmer's fields....
We cycled from Victoria to Sydney, had a nice dinner there, and took the bus (carrying our bikes) back to Victoria. The scenery along the trail is varied and often beautiful. The trail is paved or packed gravel - easy to ride.
We rode our bikes from the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal to downtown Victoria, a distance of approx. 36km. The trail is very well marked, very well used by cyclists and walkers and has a combination of rural and city surroundings. There are several stops along the route for coffee or lunch which includes various places in Sidney, Mattick's Farm and... 更多
You've got a little time before your ferry? This is a 2.3km walk right along the shoreline. It's very safe, level, and beautiful.
Awesome trail. We road our bikes from Sidney to downtown Victoria and this pig is worth stopping to watch along the way, especially if you have kids with you. We didn't, but it was fun for us. Easily entertained I guess.
I headed out in a three-speed bike that weighs a ton, but was well-equipped for this relatively level trip through neighbourhoods and countryside. En route I saw horses, heard goats, encountered fields of pumpkins glowing in the autumn sun, and stocked up on farm produce at the Fickle Fig farm stand, one of many en route. Another highlight was the... 更多
One of my favourite routes is to head out on Lochside trail to Sidney, stop for coffee and head back home again. Passing by the Lochside pigs always makes me smile and 9 times out of 10 I stop to say hello to them and the chickens too. (Truth be known I must have half a dozen pictures or more... 更多
