Lock 1 is a great and uncrowded little area to watch the ships coming through. There's a nice trail that goes along the river as well along the various locks.
I walk here all the time. The path is so picturesque & easy to walk. Lots of trees. There's an amazing cafe with art & cool events on the canal as well as a fine dine restaurant patio that overlooks the canal. Lots of benches, very clean.
Taking a walk along the canal is one of my favorite things to do. The path is paved and great for a walk, run, ride, rollerblade ... you get the picture. It also has a play area for the children at the beginning of the path.
I love the trail along the Welland Canal. It's a paved recreational trail that follows the shore of the canal which connects Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. Besides watching the ships pass by, there are many sights to see along the way. Also there are several spots to stop and get a bite to eat. Two bike shops to help... 更多
I have lived around the Niagara region for many years and the Welland Canal is a great place to visit from Lock to Lock. There is even a museum at I think Lock 3 that is very interesting to go through. Great to sit and watch the ships go through , ships from all over the world.
A relaxing and scenic area in Welland. Great walking or biking paths along the canal. You can also rent a kayak by the hour to explore the canal. There are picnic areas and many people fishing.
Driving under the welland canal through the tunnel is a must see, it's an astonishing feeling knowing that this science took many man hours of thought and construction, it's a marvel you won't soon forget!
Excellent waterway available for all watersports ( non-motorized) enthusiasts, along with beautiful scenery. Can easily spend an entire day on the canal with many gorgeous spots to stop and take a rest. Pack a picnic and your experience will be a memorable one.
