Since the completion of the boardwalk and the renovations at Max Beach, I think Calahonda Beach is much better, it has been really cleaned up extra sun beds etc and the aqwa park in the sea. defiantly worth a visit.
Very nice place to stay, lots of local bars and restaurants, plenty of supermarkets for people who are self catering. The beach was a little disappointing, mostly shingle. Not a great deal of nightlife ie clubs around here but you can travel to nearby la Cala which has everything for all ages
For this area other beaches may be better but it is ideal for anyone starting the beachside walk to La Cala. The wooden walkway is easy to use, even for wheelchair users. There are a number of Chiringuitos along the way for food and/or drink.
An evening stroll along the beach so beach facilities were pretty much closed. Sand, sun and sea oh yes :-) but overall i have to say disappointing having to constantly watch out for and avoid the litter and waste. This included a fish hook on an old line only mm's from Junior's foot.
Family.holiday with 4 family in their 20's. Not the place we expected as the wide variety of restaurants and pubs etc closed at 11 maybe because we were just out of the main season. Beach is good. Local bars restaurants were very good but no entertainment. The local bus service is atrocious. Hire a car if you can.
First time on this beach and something smelled very bad at the entrance to the water. Not a very long beach as expected, some research now tells me that there are some run off pipes going into the ocean which seems to be the reason for the foul smell. There are far better beaches not far from here.
We found this beach disappointing. The tourist website describes it as 4500 meters long, but most of this coastline is quite rocky and not suitable for swimming. There are some sandy spots where you can sunbathe on the coarse sand if that is what you like. Most of the reviews that rate this beach highly refer to the boardwalk. This...
I have been visiting Calahonda for approximately 15 years on and off and the boardwalk is a superb addition to the beach. You can walk to La Cala or the other way to Cabopino. There are even information boards along the walk which tell you about the wildlife etc. Definitely worth the walk
we have been her for over 10 years now at least once a year, if you like relaxing away from the hussle and bussle of main resorts then this is the place for you.
you will need a car if you anymore than 1 km from the beach/playa but calahonda has everything you will need for a top holiday.
