Fat Hen is a Foraging & Wild Food Cookery School, established in 2007, in West Cornwall, by Caroline Davey.

Fat Hen's bespoke hand crafted kitchen and teaching space is located in a restored granite barn on a farm in Cornwall. Beautiful natural materials including oak, slate and ash have been used alongside state of the art stainless steel equipment sponsored by SMEG & KENWOOD.

The school offers unique foodie courses for people who want to get back to the original source of their food.

Whether it be foraging for seaweeds and herbs, butchering venison or cooking crab to perfection, Fat Hen provides courses in all aspects of foraging and cooking wild food.

If you can forage it, fish it or hunt it, we will show you how to cook it.

Run by Caroline Davey in collaboration with our talented chefs, Fat Hen's Gourmet Wild Food Weekend has been chosen by the Saturday Telegraph as one of the best sustainable living courses in the UK.

Attended the Wild Italian Cookery Course last week and had a wonderful time. The recipes were amazing and finding out that half of what I am weeding from my garden tastes so good was illuminating. The food we ate throughout the day was first class and we came away from course enthused and happy. A day well spent.

Highly recommend this as a very different day out. Particularly if you like the countryside and enjoy trying, and understanding, different foods. The barn that you use as your base is charming. A great weekend of fun foraging (seaweed, berries, leaves and mushrooms) and skills (baking, filleting, butchering and pasta making). Not sure how we packed so much in. Most importantly a lot of this you could REALLY do at home. The chefs turned our efforts into delicious meals - we weren't ever hungry! Lovely to meet group of like minded people... 更多

Bought a gift voucher for the Fat Hen for my wife. There is a wide variety of course options. Initially we intended to do a foraging course, but ultimately booked to do the fish cookery course. My wife and I did a Forage, Food and Feast day at Fat Hen on a generally calm and benign May day. It was excellent. The weather was pretty wet and unwelcoming, but the Fat Hen team made it a fabulous day for everyone. So full of knowledge, with just the right mix of humour and food. We will go back for more. We learnt so much and ate and drank so well. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience.

We had a fantastic day with a really good mixture of activities. We arrived to a warm welcome of tea and coffee in the lovely building set up specially. Once everyone had arrived, half of us stayed in to prepare Alexanders and were told lots of useful information about recognising and foraging these. The rest went out into the rain... 更多

Visited here for a wild food forage and feast day, purchased through groupon. The day was thoroughly enjoyable, from the walk around Prussia Cove to the rabbit and pasta preparation and the three course meal. Caroline was knowledgeable and friendly and I would highly recommend a day at the Fat Hen.
