I didn't find the church itself especially magnificent, but overall it's worth seeing. There's a beautiful view from the museum/citadel and an interesting archaeological museum nearby.

This large citadel and church offer the opportunity to see the old architectural style for churches. Some of the painted walls remain. We were allowed to take phitographs which we weren't in some other churches. You can see how wine was stored.
Beautiful monastery near Telavi. Nice interpretive information in a museum at the base as well as in the buildings on the hillside. Nice opportunities for photos with the mountains in the background.
As a side note, there are paid squatting toilets (not Western-style toilets) available in the parking lot area.
This is place is definitely worth a quick detour when driving through Telavi. The interior of the church is in need of some renovation, but it is still an interesting sight.
