Romantic private castle in beautiful countryside. Kids will love going for the "treasure hunt" and will lead the parents into the discovery of a well maintained castle. No coffee shop on site but the small town of Chinon is only a few miles away. Recommended (even if you are not that keen on the "sleeping princess story" :-)
We enjoyed our visit to this chateau immensely. This chateau that inspired the fairy tale story of Sleeping Beauty provides the unusual opportunity to explore towers and even a loft full of discarded belongings; it was facinating. Being so high up also provides some stunning photo opportunities as the setting is wonderful looking down on the garden, river and village.... 更多
Really nice bike ride to get here - Sleeping beauty castle. Worth going in and looking around. Very well done. You can see how the roof was made which was very interesting. Nice chapel. Built in the 15th century and overlooks the Indre River.
I was returning here with family friends having visited some 40 years ago. And it still gave me goosebumps and left me speechless. As you approach from the road and see the castle in its elevated position against a backdrop of trees, it's a truly wondrous sight. Nowadays there's a delightful display of scenes from the Sleeping Beauty - thought... 更多
This chateau is crumbling under the siege of times. Crazy video on the repairing of the roof - on a screen in the wine cellar. Must be a horrendous task to maintain a chateau of this size. The stone bridge is actually supported by wooden beams to prevent it from collapsing. The attic and the prison in the oldest part... 更多
A really nice chateau, just a pity that more of it is not open to the public, but it still is a family home, so perhaps that explains it. The views from the tower are lovely.
Spent a lovely day visiting this sleeping beauty castle. The chateau itself has fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and is the archetypal French castle-all turrets and towers. The gardens are stunning - full of colourful flowers and a lovely spot for a picnic. There is a good tour for children around the chateau with a treasure chest at the... 更多
We had read in the Rick Steves book that this château wasn't worth going in! Not true! So glad we went - there is a ton to see in the "Sleeping Beauty" part. You can go all over the top floor, into nooks and crannies of the attic, up and down lots of curved staircases, and see the posed reenactment... 更多
An absolutely beautiful place in a wonderful rural location. Great for families as the history is very interesting, and the tale of Sleeping Beauty Tower the story was based on should keep children entertained. Although the gardens are not hugely extensive, they are a great place to picnic and have a great view over the French countryside. There is also... 更多
